  • Community Engagement

At the Augusta Sailing Club's Green Team, we're all about teaming up with the community. We're partnering up with local recycling programs and even our junior sailors are pitching in, making eye-catching posters and teaching us how to recycle properly and care for local critters. It's our way of helping everyone make choices that are good for our environment.

  • Environmental Stewardship

We're enhancing our commitment to environmental stewardship at the regatta with key initiatives: hosting a beach clean-up to remove litter, encouraging camping to cut down on carbon emissions, and setting up an educational tent with materials and games focused on conservation. Additionally, we aim to raise awareness about wildlife and habitat protection, engaging everyone in the effort to preserve our natural environment.

  • Green Regatta

We have teamed with Sailors for the Sea. The ASC Green Team is fully engaged to make the event cleaner. On April 14th we had a waterfront cleanup. We found a commercial composter to help minimize landfill waste. All competitors will have refillable water bottles with refill stations planned in several areas in the club.

Clean Regattas is the world’s leading sustainability certification for all on-the-water, near-the-water, and water-loving events, reaching over 1 million sailors and attendees across 53 countries since 2006. Our goal at Sailors for the Sea Powered by Oceana is to provide organizers with the most impactful ways to turn their event into one that’s better for attendees, communities, and our planet. Sailors and boaters see firsthand many of the issues that our waterways face and are perfectly positioned to protect our playground. We are proud to work with all types of events to help strengthen the connection sailors have to the environment. Our actions can have a powerful impact and organizers are incredibly creative in implementing sustainable initiatives. I particularly love working with youth events, as kids are the future of environmental stewardship, and are so passionate about incorporating environmentally friendly tactics. We’re so glad to work with the Open Skiff North Americans and look forward to many events to come with the Augusta Sailing Club!
